Bretta C. Walker is a practitioner of alchemical poetics, a budding herbalist of the Vitalist tradition, and a woman in love with light.
Her praxis is comprised of analog photography, filmmaking, and printed matter interwoven with a personal life dedicated to land stewardship and folk medicine. Her work is discovered through process and play, yet consistently grounded in the concept of healing - often addressing liminality, somatic memory, passage, intimacy, and abyss.
Walker’s works have shown in various galleries and festivals across the Americas, Asia, and Europe and have been permanently archived in several institutional collections, including that of The International Center of Photography in New York. She spearheads the publishing project Evidence House, is represented by Vtape distributors in Canada, and holds a BFA in Studio Art from Tufts University.
